MagmaTech has sponsored students at the University of Central Lancashire who have designed, built and raced an eco-friendly single seater sports car with a basalt fibre body. The innovative use of basalt fibre rather than carbon fibre reduced the CO2 emited in production and thus the environmental impact of the racing car.

The project in Denby Dale, West Yorkshire, is one of the first certified Passivhaus homes in the UK and the first to be built using masonry cavity walls.

The rigorous testing and approvals process considered all aspects of TeploTie’s performance including; structural performance, fire performance, long term durability and also confirmed the crucial low thermal conductivity of the tie. TeploTie is the most intensively tested wall tie ever launched in to the market!

The Concrete Centre have developed a design and specification for a Code for Sustainable Homes (CSH) level 5 house in collaboration with a Registered Social Landlord (RSL); A2Dominion Group and a contractor.

TeploTie has been specified in this thermally efficient house design. The low conductivity wall ties are used to connect a masonry cavity wall which is fully filled with 200mm of polystyrene bead. The external wall achieves a design U-value of 0.15 W/m2K, with a medium density aggregate block for the inner leaf and a choice of facing bricks or concrete blocks with a rendered finish for the outer leaf.

TeploTie, thermally insulating wall ties, have been added to the latest version of U-value calculation software; BuildDesk U. The addition enables users of the software to quickly model the U-value improvement that the low conductivity wall ties can bring to a wall design.

TeploTie, thermally insulating wall ties, have been used in an environmentally conscious project at a UK school . The new classroom and storage room at Hawridge & Cholesbury Church of England School, Buckinghamshire, has been designed to reduce energy and water usage by the new building’s users. The project also utilised many sustainable building materials.

MagmaTech has won the 2008 Building Exchange (BEX) innovation competition for its commitment to developing new and sustainable construction products. MagmaTech received the award at a gala evening at the BEX event, a major construction conference being held in Valencia, Spain from the 23-25th of June.
